Jess’ Bio

Jess Collett was born & raised in Worcestershire – where the sauce comes from! Which probably explains some things… At 16 she spent two years studying Performing Arts at WCoT and then went on to train at Rose Bruford College in Kent. This also included a year studying at Stephen F. Austin State University where she discovered everything really IS bigger in Texas.

After graduating Jess moved into her spiritual home of East London and began her career as an actress. Over the years she’s worked on various short films, voice overs, music videos and some modelling projects. Representing top brands and companies like T-Mobile, Nokia, G-Casino, Covent Garden Opera Quarter and many others.

She also worked on the production of “Watching” an award winning short starring Ian Hart, “Dead Cat“, an award winning romantic comedy feature and began to write her own screenplays.

In 2013 the opportunity to live in Sydney, Australia for the year arose, which Jess grabbed with both hands! Represented by Carolyn White Management, she continued her career over there and was lucky enough to star in commercials for Toyota and Foxtel (Australia’s Sky). As well as continue to make short films (including one of her own) and provide voices for an animation.

Jess studied Advanced Acting for the Camera, at Sydney Drama School and participated in workshops with TV director’s Tony TilsePeter Andrikidis and Producer Bobby Galinsky. She realised the importance of continuing her education and continues to take regular classes and workshops at The Actor’s Centre, with The Actor’s Guild and various other opportunities that arise here in London.

Settled back into London life, Jess was part of the co-op One Another Management and continues her career as an actress, represented by Kate Winn at KEW Personal Management. Recently she’s starred in a SMART Life Insurance ad, a comedy web-series and a short by director Malcolm Roy Greenhill, entitled ‘Break’.

Seeing ‘being funny’ as rather arbitrary and just for the love of it, Jess has decided to focus on comedy. She is a co-founder of Calder Comedy Collective who meet weekly to improvise and work on new writing and recently attended LOCO’s Kickstart Your Career in Comedy Workshop. She also writes, produces and directs as one third of Another View Productions.

Jess is keen on, well, anything that comes her way… She learnt to speak Spanish for a three month trip to South America; Was part of an all female soccer team for a while; Ran London Marathon (2010) and Berlin Marathon (2012) as well as many half-marathons, 10ks & 5ks; Snowboards, practices Yoga & Pilates when she can and is a pretty amateur photographer!
